Welcome to the Class Blog!

Don't you just hate it when people use exclamation points to show enthusiasm?

Me too!!!!

Welcome to the Spring 2011 semester of College Writing I. I'm your professor, Michael Parsons, and I'll be posting topics here on a regular basis. You'll have about 12 of these to work on throughout the semester.

This is a class forum. I will start the topics, but by no means do I expect my starting points to be the end of discussion. This blog is designed for you to weigh in on topics we touch on in class -- or ones we don't.

Basic rules: 1) No flaming. 2) Be respectful of other people. You may not agree with their points, but that should not extend into any personal comments. 3) Keep it honest. Other than that, you're fine.

First assignment up soon.

  2. Who am I? I am Jermala J.

Tatum. I was born in Cleveland,

Ohio and I have been here my

whole life, I am eighteen years

old and I am a Fashion Design

major. I am the oldest of three

and the first out of a twenty

year time span to be attending

college. In high school you can

say I was pretty popular. I

played basketball and I was a

cheerleader. I was also voted on

homecoming court and I won best

     dressed of my class.

The last three years of my life I

have been in a relationship. His

name is Wesley he is my

best friend and I hope to keep

him in my life. I am a very

outgoing person I love to laugh,

joke, and have fun. When I am

new to things off hand I

observe then I reaction once I'm

    comfortable then it's

hard to not notice I'm not

     around. I let my imagination

paint pictures that I want to

bring to my reality. I believe I

have to offer this world and I

    do not want to disappoint.

I want to travel and learn more

     about fashion, style, and people.

I really want to settle in

    California to farther my chances

of being a designer or stylist

    I actually may have a

    chance to move there pretty

soon but I'm not to sure yet.

I know a lot of people do

not have this opportunity so I

really want to make the best of

it. I really can't think of my

    theme song because I feel

like any thing moving can get

me going. I base life off feelings

so if I'm happy give me

     something upbeat and I'll dance

my butt off if I'm down

     something slow with meaning.

I am the best to define myself

but even I don't know everything

    about me.

  3. Hey, my name is Shea. My real name is Sheana, but ive been going by Shea my whole life. Im from Chillicothe, Ohio and I graduated from Chillicothe High School. When I was about two months old my family moved to Oklahoma where we lived for about seven years then moved back to Ohio. As of right now I do not have a major because I have absolutely no idea what I want to do for the rest of my life. So currently I am exploratory. Things that I really hate is one science. I cant stand science, probably because im no good at it. Another thing I dont like is when people stare at me. I feel like if someone is staring at me for more then three seconds then obviously they have something to say. Two facts about me that you probably wouldnt guess from looking at me is I seen snow for the first time ever when I was seven years old, and I was the captain of my cheerleading team my senior year of high school. My theme song would have to be Pretty Girl Rock by Keri Hilson because im a pretty girl and the lyrics are so true and relate to me. The song is not just for females either because my boyfriend loves the song!

  4. I’m Giovanna Ryal Appelgren Knudsen, but most just call me Gigi. I’m originally from Cuyahoga Falls and moved to good old Kent, Ohio when I was a youngster in the fourth grade. As of now I have not started my major, but I do plan on going into Pre-Veterinarian Medicine at Ohio State University later on. Like I said during class, I am half Danish. Being from a different culture and having half of my family living in a different country entails a lot of traveling. Traveling is one of my favorite things to do with family and friends. This summer, in fact, one of my good friends and I plan on taking a trip starting in Italy and ending up in Denmark. I may not look like it, but I am a snowboarder. I absolutely love it. The freedom and the serenity that surrounds me are thrilling. In a few weeks, I am heading out to Colorado on ski vacation with my family. I can’t wait to wake up at six, hit the slopes and be done at seven; I look forward to it every year. I am usually a very calm person, but there are some things, like with many people, that get me tick. Repetition can sometimes be a good thing, but in most cases I just can’t stand it! If I’ve heard a story once, I don’t like hearing it again. But, maybe that’s just me. Trying telling me a really funny story and maybe, just maybe, I’ll listen for a second time. Along with those aspects of me and my life, one of the more personal aspects deals with the passing of my grandmother a year ago. It was one of the hardest times I have ever been through. Dealing with something like that is never easy, but I had my family to help get through it. My family and I are not like the typical families. We are very close in every way. I am not who I seem to be, but over time you will all start to see.
